All loaded up with room to spare. Glad we pared down our luggage on this trip.
Bikes fit across the back seat allowing room for the bags in the rear.
After a short drive we managed to navigate to the center of town and the cathedral.
Pretty massive but not the largest one in France.
That will come when we tour Amiens.
Since time was short we settled for a walk around the exterior. I am sure the interior was just as majestic with lots more statues and stained glass windows.
It is noted for its numerous statues.
Most were destroyed by bombs during WWI.
Some did not fair so well or are in a state of reconstruction.
This is the remains of the original church from the middle ages where Joan of Arc rallied the forces to expel the British from France and re-establish the French king.
Don't know if she posed for this statue or it was rendered from some unknown depiction.
Unfortunately she was burned at the stake before her troops were victorious and restored the French king to the throne.
In town bikes are everywhere.
During our grocery stop Kim could not pass up on the smaller single serving Champagne.
Lots to choose from.
Arrived at the "castle" around 2 PM. Unloaded car and got settled in by 3:30 PM.
Time for a well deserved coffee break
